Is it possible to upgrade the processor and motherboard of existing HP desktops?

I understand the warranty would be void by upgrading the processor or motherboard, but I’m curious if it’s physically possible? For example, if I have a Quad core desktop, and in the future want to upgrade to the new Intel i7 processor which requires a different motherboard, will the new motherboard and processor fit inside the HP tower? And will other components like memory, graphics card and drives fit in their as well?

Well, u cant upgrade to a corei7, they use a compltely different socket… if u want a core i7 u will need a new mobo, new Ram (cuz i7 only supports Triple channel Ram) u will need a new graphic card, cuz i7 mobos dont have onboard graphics… sooo if u do all that, it would just be better to completely built your comp from teh ground up

How important is the cache on the processor compared to the speed?

For example, which is faster;?
2.00GHz 6MB cache
or 2.6GHz 2MB cache?
So is it good to have a lot of cache or can you have 2MB no problem
And if say there is a 2.00GHz quad processor does that mean it really is 8.00GHz processor because there are 4 cores?
Finaly, if there is a 2.00GHz duo and quad, is there a BIG difference?

the cache is much more important then the ghz, it makes a huge difference( you can also tell by the price of the cpu) so the 2ghz 6mb cache would be better, there are going to be certain circumstances the 2.6GHZ will out perform the 2ghz, but overall the 6MB cache cpu will be better. Plus you can very easily overclock the ghz, however you CANNOT overclock cache so that’s something to think about.

Of course depending what you plan on doing 2MB is more than enough for basic things and specific category of games.

and your if 2ghz quad core means 8ghz single core, no that’s not the way it works.

And finally your last question, by big difference since you didn’t give me more detail about WHAT you wanna do with it. Im going to say for the most part no there is not a big difference for a few reasons.

lets say with your duo core cpu u can handle 100 small tasks on your pc simultaneously, that just means you can handle 200 small tasks equally on a quad core cpu.

This was why previously i said quad 2ghz does not = 8ghz single core. Because if that is true then this means a single core cpu at 8ghz can handle 200 small tasks, the same as the quad core cpu. BUT that is not the case, the single core cpu at 8ghz would not be able to handle 200 tasks, rather it can handle lets say 10 tasks much more efficient than the quad core cpu could with 10 tasks.

So to sum it up with quad and duo cores, most games and programs only use 2 cores. 4 is just quantity and quality is usually more important. However if you can afford a quad core with the same quality as the duo core, then by all means do it. The higher end games can use more than 2 cores, and video editing definitely uses as much cpu quantity and quality it could use.

Is processor speed or ram more important when you want a fast computer?

I am getting a new laptop and one laptop has a 1.6ghz processor and 3gb ram
the other has a 2.2 ghz processor and 2gb ram
which should I get?
I have lots of music and movies and do a lot of research and typing for school. I do not play big games.

Processor. Why? You can upgrade the RAM later whenever you want, easily

And just giving me a clock speed says nothing. Are they the same model CPU? The Core i7 720QM has a base speed of 1.6 ghz, but will destroy almost all of the other mobile CPUs, even ones in the high 2s

What is the best a processor or a blender and what is the difference?

I am trying to get a little more on a health kick. I want to make some health drinks….Walgreens has a food processor and a blender for sale. Please tell me what are the differneces and which is best.

Thank you in advance for your help.

A food processor uses a larger blade that is angled and curved. This is best for chopping large things such as cucumber, onion, making bread crumbs, etc. A blender uses a much smaller blade with no angle that stirs and grinds things like soups and smoothies. It really is best to have both, if you are into cooking, but if you can only get one, get a food processor. It can handle both the large, chunky things, as well as small, more liquidey things. My favorite is the CuisineArt. They last forever! You probably won’t find this at Walgreens, so for great sales, check Shopzilla.com or Ebay.

Can you use a food processor to grind grain?

We want to start grinding our own grain because it is healthier. Can you use a food processor instead of the hand cranked grinder or the expensive machine grinder?

The motor is not strong enough to do an adequate job. Check ebay for a Bosch brand mill, they will run about 250$. It’s a bit pricey but worth the investment. Bosch also makes a mixer for making bread.

Can you reccomend a food processor that is also a juicer?

I would like a food processor for recipies, and making baby food. Is there a model that would also work as a juicer?

THE MAGIC BULLET!!!!

i got one for christmas and my daddy says that i am a very weird kid to ask for a food processer that is also a blender and a jucier.

What is the cheapest core processor that is good for gaming?

I would like a core processor that is good at running games like Grand Theft Auto IV or Crysis on High.It could be a dual core, a triple core or a quad core.I would like the price to be around $100 – $250 or higher if necessary but I want the cheapest one available on the market. Thanks.

Athlon II X4 620, 2.6GHz quad-core for $100
Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (great overclocking) 3.2GHz for $165 (recommended)
Intel i5 750, 2.66GHz quad-core, 2.66GHz for $200 (Intel recommendation)

Can I change the processor in my computer?

Hey, my computer has been running slowly lately, so I am planning on upgrading the memory, and I was wondering If I can change/upgrade the processor along with it. My computer is a Compaq Sr2170nx. The processor is an Intel Pentium 4 cpu 3.00 ghz (2 Cpus). It has 848 mb memory. Can I change or upgrade the processor, if so how? Thanks.

Just so you know a pentium 4 does not have 2 cpus. You could upgrade it but you wont get a much better processor. You are better off buying a new computer.

Supports the following processors:
Pentium D 900 series (Pressler, 65nm)
Pentium 4 601 series (Cedar Mill, 65nm)
Celeron D 3xx series (Cedar Mill, 65nm)
Celeron D 3xx series (Prescott, 90nm)

I have a 3ghz processor running on my 64bit system. How can i maximize the use of the processor?

I have a 3ghz processor running on my 64bit system. In system info it reads 3.00 ghz than after it reads 1.50 ghz. Does this mean that the system is only using half of the processor. Is there a way i can get it to use more?

The only way you can get it to use more is by doing more stuff on your computer, for example, gaming. That processor is a very good one by the way. You could do some nice gaming with it. It’s not bad that your processor isn’t being used to it’s full potential. If you have a good graphics card, then you have a really nice computer.

Can you upgrade your processor as opposed to buying a new computer?

I have a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ and a ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card, with 2 gigs of RAM

I want to be able to play GTA IV but my processor is too slow. Can a buy a new, fast processor and install it into the mobo?

Yes, you sure can!

But you may Also want to Upgrade your Video Card as well!!
Depending on how much you are Willing to Spend:

An Athlon 64 X2 5200+ is about $65+Shipping @ Newegg.com,
And a Powercolor Radeon HD3850 512MB Video Card is just $70 right now on Newegg!!

So, for about $140, you can Upgrade Both your CPU & Video Card.
