I have a 3ghz processor running on my 64bit system. How can i maximize the use of the processor?
I have a 3ghz processor running on my 64bit system. In system info it reads 3.00 ghz than after it reads 1.50 ghz. Does this mean that the system is only using half of the processor. Is there a way i can get it to use more?
The only way you can get it to use more is by doing more stuff on your computer, for example, gaming. That processor is a very good one by the way. You could do some nice gaming with it. It’s not bad that your processor isn’t being used to it’s full potential. If you have a good graphics card, then you have a really nice computer.
Because the EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) is enabled you will notice that rather than 3.0GHz, Everest is reporting that the CPU speed is just 1.50GHz using just 1.188 volts. This power saving technology has wound back the processor because its power is not being called into play at this particular point in time. This feature can be disabled if you wish.

CPU frequency scaling
Basically your processor runs at half speed when it’s not being heavily used. That way it uses less power and runs cooler.
