Is processor speed or ram more important when you want a fast computer?
I am getting a new laptop and one laptop has a 1.6ghz processor and 3gb ram
the other has a 2.2 ghz processor and 2gb ram
which should I get?
I have lots of music and movies and do a lot of research and typing for school. I do not play big games.
Processor. Why? You can upgrade the RAM later whenever you want, easily
And just giving me a clock speed says nothing. Are they the same model CPU? The Core i7 720QM has a base speed of 1.6 ghz, but will destroy almost all of the other mobile CPUs, even ones in the high 2s
Go with the 3 gig of ram. you will notice a difference with ram more than the processor.

Personal Experience: (meaning some of you may disagree)
I have 4GB memory and a 2.13 GHz processor and my memory always out works my processor and freezes the computer anyway.
Also, realize that you can use ready boost to boost your memory.
