Tricia Helfer (Number Six) Battlestar Galactica Speed Drawing Portrait
This were meant to be a practice piece for drawing certain type of hair, ended up spending least amount of time on hair. Actually screwed up the first time, some drawings are harder than others i guess…
anyway i really wanted to capture that concerned, worried, yet some what caring stare, while give the whole thing a feeling of lightness and glow.

Drawing Heath Ledgers Joker, The Dark Knight, Nathan Wyburn
READ: Here i draw The Joker with Boldmere Graphite, played by the late Heath Ledger in what i belive is the greatest comic book movie of all time, The Dark Knight.
I drew a very rough faint outline before recording to prevent any major mishaps while recording. I decided to add red paint over the smile of the joker, to add to its effect. Its not meant to be precise and neat, its meant to just be rough over, like the jokers real make up.
Total Drawing time = 1hr 24mins

Speed Drawing both hands same time ! theportraitart
practice vid link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWfFMwxB3no
definitely one of my most difficult project, the idea was just too interesting to not give it a try
————————————————–
the approach
Since it is next to impossible to focus on two things simultenously, it is however, possible to always keep both hands moving…
I make sure one hand knows how and where to move for the next few strokes while I focus on the other hand, making rapid and constant attention switching. Sometimes when one of my hand is about to draw something difficult like a specific curve, i would move my other hand to draw something simple like filling an area with shade that needs repetitive strokes. This way I manage to keep both hands moving while alternating focusing on each hand in rapid succession. (for example when i was drawing Morgan freeman’s mouth with my left, i move my right hand to draw the Tim’s hair since it requires much less attention and accuracy, in fact for most the video when one hand is doing something defining the other is doing shading )
This approach allow me to finish two portraits in way less time than the time I would spent drawing two consecutive portraits with my dominant hand… and it is cool to look at, just pretty tiring when making it, after a hour of constantly switching attention I do feel a little crazy..
